Poem Two. MP3
Day 338
A one year sentence
In my own home
Yearning for a taste of the old
Back when a day could be bad or great
Not just decent to ok
New norms have emerged
The world is in chaos but time feels slowed down
I hear only silence, the world is a ghost town
Days no longer have meaning
They’re nothing but time
It feels almost fictional
That not wearing masks is a crime
Not saying it's bad, but is it not strange?
How life as we know it can so quickly change?
New norms have emerged
Like hiding inside
I live in my room
Is this being alive?
But when the abnormal resumes
When we’ll see nature bloom
And we’ll just take it back
Because mankind consumes.
Rewritten
Uncle Sam wants you to join the army
To Force you to fight for freedom
To kill to restore peace
You’ve been locked in a cage
Held in captivity
And forced to fight
Don’t sign their contract of suicide
Written by the people up top
Both sides claim that god is on their side
But perhaps god is not the one controlling them.
A horrid experience rewritten to be glorified
The Deaths of millions used for profit
Uncle Sam expects you to die
And they'll only repay you with a plate with your name
But if you lost you won't be remembered at all
