I have a dream that my African school will care about my heritage.

We need to move away from this western-centric point of view.

Why is it that every black name I know is from a civil rights movement in America?

They call the curriculum international, but it only teaches about Europe and the USA.

I have a dream that my African school will teach us our stories.

Our stories are being suppressed, and it's leaving me unimpressed.

We deserve to know our truth, but you choose to withhold information from the youth

I am a slave to the white man’s curriculum

I could tell you what happened to Franz Ferdinand but I couldn’t tell you what happened to Haile Selassie

There is a flag being planted in me but, frankly, it is not mine.

I am a slave within the system.

We cannot accept our stories to be buried and forgotten

You can't neglect this subject and expect the youth to not engage

I am not asking, I am begging for our educational system to change.
