I’m Tired
I'm tired.
I’m tired of the 500 hundred thousand COVID-19 related deaths
Caused by people we trusted playing with power
I’m tired of the 700 hundred thousand forests lost this year
For wood, we can grow, and paper we don’t need.
I’m tired of people using their power for themselves
And not those who helped them get there.
I’m tired of the richest man having 190 billion dollars
Meanwhile, 800 hundred thousand people are malnourished
I’m tired
Is this the system we decided on?
One where the 1% controls the 99%
The few abusing the many?
Caring only for numbers on a screen
Like the hearts in-game
Where each life lost, is someone’s life lost.
And our lives are not to be played with
They may try to divide us
So that we fight amongst ourselves
But we can tell the system no
We will not stand for this.
And I ask the system
Why?
Why would you do this
When so many people suffer
And I’m tired
As my eyes close, I can see what you have done
You say it’s a “free market”
Where no company can have a monopoly
Yet there are people with more money than there are humans.
You say “we strive for a better planet”
Yet destroy the same one you swore to protect, for
You say you “care about people”
Then turn a blind eye when child labor is cheaper.
When will I finally get to say the words:
“Goodnight”
Because I’m tired
