Algebra Concepts and Skills; Using Data

This unit focuses on algebraic concepts such as matching story problems to expressions, using a rule/formula to complete an x/y table, solving for an unknown(s) using pan-balances, and simplifying expression and inequalities. Students will create double-line graphs for a set of data, and answering questions regarding the data.
Skills and Goals:
- match expressions and story problems to each other based on their context
- using a rule or formula to complete either side of an x/y table; create a line graph of the table's data
- solve equations/solve for an unknown using a pan-balance
- solve inequalities and/or tell if the inequality is true of false
- solve expressions when given a value for a variable(s)
- create double-line graphs for a set of data
- answer questions by analyzing the data on a double-line graph
