Math Unit 1
Number Theory

This unit should be a review of skills learned in 4th grade. This unit is not formally graded on the report card, but students will have a summative assessment at the end to check their understanding and to help kids learn how assessment will be taken this year.
Skills and Goals:
- create arrays and number models for various multiplication problems and products
- find factors of various number (i.e. Factors of 12 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12)
- divisibility rules - specific rules to help see if a number can go into a larger number without having to use division
- understanding prime and composite numbers
- squaring and unsquaring numbers
- factor strings and prime factorization
