Science

Our Vision in Science.

We are surrounded by Science and Technology in everything we see and do. The world our students are growing up in has new scientific discoveries daily, and they are surrounded by science in everything they do and see. As our students grow up and move into this increasingly scientific and technological world, they need to be scientifically literate to succeed.

At TEC we believe that every student is remarkable, and to help them live a extraordinary life once they leave school, our curriculum “takes an enterprising, proactive approach to life and learning to develop a depth of knowledge within subjects and the wider world”. We also believe that regardless of background, pupils have a right to the keys of scientific knowledge to allow them to be successful, well-informed, democratic citizens and pursue the career of their choice.

Our curriculum is designed to teach our students the skills they will need to be remarkable in this ever changing scientific world. We aim to teach students the scientific methods needed to challenge the world they find themselves in. This will be done through teaching them to think, learn, solve problems and make informed decisions about the world around them. We put an emphasis on the topics in the curriculum that will help our students make more sense of the world around them; cells, infections and diseases, atoms, how chemicals react together, energy resources, particles, forces and practical skills.

Students leaving TEC will have a solid foundation in Science and will be able to emerge into this increasingly scientific and technological world, being scientifically literate enough to succeed.
