Music

Music is part of the Creative Arts Faculty and is a vibrant and exciting subject that allows all students to be creative and develop skills in performance, composition and listening. Music is something that every student can connect with. Developing the confidence of students is a vital part of the curriculum and students are frequently challenged to perform their ideas to each other whilst being encouraged to evaluate the success of these performances. Not only does music allow students a creative outlet but also increases their confidence and problem solving skills. We aim to develop creative and practical musicians through the exploration of performance and composition with a clear knowledge, understanding and practical application of DR SMITH. All students involved in music at TEC are given regular opportunities to perform in front of others both as individuals and with the various groups. This builds on their performance skills and also helps to develop their confidence and understanding as musicians.

In Key Stage 3 the students have one 60 minute curriculum music lesson per week. In Key Stage 4 students are taught for three 60 minute lessons per week studying the BTEC Tech Award in Music.
