Staff Training and Expertise

The Academy has achieved the Dyslexia Friendly Enhanced Award. It was the first school in Staffordshire to achieve this prestigious award.

In order to achieve this award, all staff had to display a level of expertise in working with students with SEN.

What training or expertise do our staff have?

• In-house and specialist training is available for all staff on an on-going basis.

• Specific training in aspects of SEND through in-service training.

• Continuing Professional Development training as per Performance Management Reviews.

• LSAs with specialisms.

• The SENCo is a qualified teacher with graduate qualifications.

• The dyslexia tutor is a graduate with a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with SpLD/Dyslexia qualification.

• The SENCo attends the SENCo update meetings.

• All new staff and trainee staff receive SEND training.
