Identification and Assessment of SEN
Identification and Assessment of SEN
A number of procedures are in place to identify and assess special educational needs:
Special educational needs and disabilities or concerns are highlighted at Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3 transition meetings between TEC and primary schools.
Records/information are transferred to TEC.
Students are screened using standardised testing in Year 7 and potential difficulties identified from the results.
Reading and spelling ages are tested annually in Key Stage 3.
Staff complete a Student Referral Form if they have concerns about a pupil.
Parents and students themselves can also make referrals.
Individual assessments are carried out if a referral is made.
Assessment for possible dyslexic tendencies is available if appropriate.
Testing for exam access arrangements is carried out in Year 9 for identified students.
