Exam Access Arrangements

Some of our students may require extra support in examinations. This support is termed as Access Arrangements and has a definition of”pre examination adjustments for candidates based on evidence of need and the student’s normal way of working.”

This could be assistance with a range of different things such as, reading the papers, a scribe. They allow students with special educational needs, disabilities and temporary injuries to access all assessments without changing the demands of the assessment. Some of these arrangements can be decided in school however the majority require the permission of the examination board.

The Learning Support Department has a teacher who is qualified to carry out the necessary assessments with these students and then decisions are made and confirmed by the examination boards.
