Tamworth Enterprise College renews Dyslexia Friendly Status.

TEC's commitment to supporting young people with dyslexia has once again been recognised with the award of Full Dyslexia Friendly Status.

The award acknowledges the school's aspirations to help all of our students make the progress they deserve.

Being 'Dyslexia Friendly' means that in every area of the school, what it is like to have dyslexia has been considered; this enables students to gain confidence and develop their abilities.

For example:

Not all students with dyslexia require intervention so it is important that teachers know how to adjust their classrooms and their teaching to enable dyslexic students to develop and shine.

It should also be remembered that strategies being used to help dyslexic students also enhance the learning of all students in the school.

An external verifier from Entrust (which provides support services with Staffordshire County Council) visited the school in December 2016 and spent time inspecting classrooms, the school's facilities and provision for students with dyslexia and dyslexic tendencies. Following the inspection it was announced that the school had achieved its aim of retaining its Full Dyslexia Friendly Status (which it has held since 2009).

The school community is extremely proud of this achievement because we pride ourselves on the consistent, caring and creative environment we strive to generate for all of our learners, where they feel confident to develop and progress in all aspects of life.

'Dyslexia, so what's it all about?
