Science Curriculum Intent
Through our Hamford science curriculum, we strive to inspire our children to become curious scientists who develop a conscientious balanced view of the world, and go on to use their skills and knowledge to contribute positively to the world around them.
Our Curriculum
Our age related expectations define the expected knowledge and skills for our pupils at each stage of their scientific learning journey. They are built from both National Curriculum statements and supplementary statements, which are carefully sequenced to create a sequential progressive curriculum that:
secures the basic scientific concepts and skills at an age-appropriate point
builds on these to ensure children can develop their understanding and apply it in new contexts
prepares children for further scientific study
Key ideas have been organised into scientific strands, to ensure progression in each. A series of units have then been developed to ensure that each strand is visited at least every two years.
