This course is ideal for anyone potentially interested in working in the health and social care sector. These include medicine, care and therapy, amongst many others.


Essential values of care for use with individuals in care settings

  • This is an externally assessed examination for an hour covering the following:

  • How to support individuals maintaining their rights

  • The importance of the values of care and how they are applied

  • How legislation impacts on care settings

  • How personal hygiene, safety and security measures protect individuals


Communicating and working with individuals in health, social care and early years settings This is a coursework module and covers the following:

  • How to communicate effectively

  • Understand the personal qualities that contribute to effective care

  • Be able to communicate effectively within a health, social care and early years setting


Using basic first aid procedures This is a coursework module.

  • Be able to assess scenes of accidents to identify risks and continuing dangers

  • Understand the first aid procedures for a range of injuries Be able to apply basic first aid procedures
