At Scotstown, it is very important to maintain positive communication links between the school and at home. This provides consistency and ensures we are all meetings the needs of your child. There are many ways that these links are fostered. Open Afternoons take place at least twice a year. The annual School Concert takes place at Christmas. The Parent Consultations are held twice a year in order to discuss your child's progress and next steps.
We adopt an Open Door Policy where we are here to listen and support. If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch with SLT or the School Staff Team.
Seesaw is a communication tool used by staff at Scotstown to communicate with families and share the learning that is taking place in the classroom.
At the beginning of the year, you will be issued with a QR code that allows you to join your child's class page. Please access the user guide and information video linked on the left which shows to get started and navigate the features of this app.
How can you help support at home?
There are lots of ways that you can help to support your child's learning at home.
Some suggestions are:
Reading stories together
Vocabulary building during walks or shopping trips
Singing songs and rhymes
Number recognition games
Messy phonics play
Homework is optional and will be set by each class teacher on Seesaw. Reading at home will also be encouraged. Below are some online, interactive games that can be accessed to support the learning of phonics and number recognition with younger children:
