Planning is an important part of making computer programs. The table below shows a plan for the Bad Joke program:

The plan shows what the script for the Boy sprite and the Girl sprite are going to do. Experienced programmers should be able to choose the right blocks to use from the plan. Having a plan makes it easier to make the program as a result.

Exercise 1:

Using the plan above, create the Bad Joke program. If you are having difficulty, you can look at the screencast again.

Exercise 2:

Create your own program where three different sprites talk to each other. They could be telling a joke, or a story, or just talking to each other. You will have to plan it out in a word document first though. Use the empty table below to help you:

Written Exercise:

Download the written exercise and write the answers a word document. Be sure to write your answers in full sentences.

Extension Exercise 1 - A Change of Scenery:

Add some blocks to your program from Exercise 2 to make the background of the stage change during the story. Here are some hints to help you

• You will need to use the broadcast block in the script of one sprite when you want to change the scenery
• You will need to use the When I receive block in the stage's script to change the scene
• You will add a block that sets the scene back the original one when the green flag is clicked.

Extension Exercise 2 - A Walk on Part

Add some blocks to your program that move the sprites about whilst they tell the story. Here are some hints to help you:

• You will need to use the go to block to move the sprites to their starting positons when the green flag is clicked
• The glide block can be used to move a script to a specific location over a certain amount of time
• The wait block can be used to make a sprite stay at the same location for a while
