We had an incredible year in 2023! I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the partnerships within the Department and the community that contributed to our success. We look forward to continuing to build on our progress in 2024!
The past five years have been full of accomplishments! We put together a five-year video update for the members to showcase all the incredible achievements throughout the past five years. Although the video was done specifically for the department, I welcome you to look at it too. I could not be more proud.
Staffing: Increasing our staffing ensures the safety and well-being of our members, residents, and visitors in Anne Arundel County. I am thrilled to announce that in 2023, we were allotted 18 new positions that will ensure more consistent coverage across all areas of Anne Arundel County.
Technology: In 2023, we focused on technology. We released our first-ever public-facing statistics dashboard on the County website. Additionally, we modernized and upgraded several software systems throughout the Department to enhance day-to-day operations.
Apparatus & Equipment: As we continue to prioritize the safety and effectiveness of our operations, it’s crucial to invest in modern equipment and fire apparatus that meet the evolving needs of our communities. This has been a priority throughout my tenure and 2023 was no exception. With over 20 new pieces of apparatus placed in-service to replace or enhance outdated units, we are another year closer to increased reliability, enhanced performance and greater flexibility when responding to emergencies.
New Stations: We officially broke ground on the new Crownsville Fire Station and look forward to breaking ground on the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company in the very near future.
There are so many great things happening in the Fire Department. This is just a taste of what we have been doing and the four areas where we have focused our time and energy to provide enhanced EMS and Fire service to everyone in Anne Arundel County.
Sincerely,
Trisha L. Wolford
