Ross Dinkel (Ret.)
Deputy Chief - Logistics
It is my privilege to present the 2023 annual report Logistics section. This section provides an overview of the activities, accomplishments, and financial performance over the past year in each area that resides under Logistics for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, including the Office of the Fire Marshal, Fleet Maintenance & Inventory Management, and Budget office.
Our Fire Marshal Office is divided into two units: fire prevention, safety, and inspections unit and the fire, arson, and explosives investigation and enforcement unit. Click on each unit to learn more about the value they provide her in the county.
Fleet maintenance and inventory management are two enormous tasks for a fire department with over a thousand personnel. These teams are run out of our Logistics Center in Millersville and are responsible for procuring, storing, and distributing almost all our firefighting equipment and supplies. Additionally, they ensure the operational readiness of all department apparatus, including outfitting, testing, and maintenance of our fleet.
The management and allocation of the department's $186 million annual budget ensures prudent fiscal responsibility and sustainability for each budget year. The Budget Office works directly with the Fire Chief and the County Executive’s team to allocate resources efficiently to support essential operations, training initiatives, equipment, infrastructure, and staff. Regular financial reporting, audits, and oversight mechanisms have been implemented to ensure the trust of public funds.
On October 1, 2023, Deputy Chief Ross Dinkel retired from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Division Chief Greg Novak was subsequently promoted to Deputy Chief and began overseeing the department's Logistics Bureau. We wish Deputy Chief Dinkel the very best in retirement! Congratulations to Deputy Chief Novak on his promotion, and we wish him success in his new assignment!
