Fire Alarm

Fire Alarm continues to provide fire and emergency medical dispatch communications for Anne Arundel County including Highland Beach and Annapolis, the two incorporated municipalities within the County.  The center is staffed by 32 civilian Fire Communications Operators (FCOs) and eight sworn Fire Lieutenants working a 24-hour on 72-hour off schedule, averaging 42 hours per week. In 2023, the center held three training classes certifying eight new operators in Emergency Medical Dispatch and Emergency Fire Dispatch.  FCOs answered 157,231 calls with an average ring time of seven seconds. 94,565 incidents were dispatched and 21,518 outbound calls were placed.
