Art I 1/2 Credit
Art I is designed for the beginning art student and focuses on building a strong drawing foundation. A wide range of experiences are provided with the primary emphasis being the creative experimentation in a variety of drawing mediums.
Advanced Drawing 1/2 Credit
Advanced drawing in an extension of Art I. It is designed for students that are interested in continuing art through high school. In this class students will do daily sketches along with some larger projects. Advanced drawing will enhance the student's natural ability with daily practice and new techniques.
**Prerequisite: Student must have taken Art I before class begins in second semester.
Freshman Art Block 1 Credit
Freshman students that are interested in taking art for a full year can sign up for this block. Students who take this class will be scheduled for Art I and Advanced Drawing consecutively. The block is taught the same as Art I and Advanced Drawing.
Art II 1 Credit
Art II continues the Art I student's development in drawing and introduces a variety of new media including watercolor, acrylics, colored pencil and pastel.. The student is also exposed to a wide range of art topics from art history, studio work, & art criticism to aesthetics and art in society.
Art III 1 Credit
Art III continues the Art II student's development in drawing and introduces a variety of other media. Creative expression and competition is emphasized throughout the course. The student will have the opportunity to develop a special interest during periods of independent study. The student is exposed to a wide range of topics from art history, studio work, and art criticism to aesthetics and art in society.
*Prerequisite: Art II & teacher recommendation.
Art IV 1 Credit
Sophisticated drawing skills and experimentation in a wide range of mediums are the foundation of Art IV. More independent study is provided and students are encouraged to explore an area of keen interest. Art history, criticism, aesthetics, and art in society are continued.
*Prerequisite: Art III & teacher recommendation.
Graphic Design 1 Credit
Graphic design is a class that focuses on the elements of design and the communication through two dimensional media. This class works with several computer programs to create the covers and layouts for the student produced newspaper.
*Prerequisite: Art II & teacher recommendation.
