This introduction has been prepared to assist both the student and their parents in course selection for the 2025-2026 school year.
Registration is a vital part of a student's school experience. Subject choices affect not only their success in high school, but also their chosen path. Although certain academic courses are required for graduation from Tuslaw High School, many other subjects are available as electives. With input from parents, counselors, and teachers, students will have the ability to make wise course selections.
Selecting courses is individual in nature. What is right for one may not be right for another. An understanding of one's own abilities, interests, and goals is critical to insure a positive high school experience.
STUDENT CLASS SCHEDULES
Tuslaw High School students are required to take the following minimum credit load by year:
Freshmen 5.75
Sophomore 5.75
Junior 6.00
Senior 6.00
The minimum credit load will allow the students to have 2 study halls per year. A schedule with 7 credits will allow one study hall per year and an 8 credit schedule will have no study halls.
CCP students must have four courses per semester.
Students must have a total of 5 courses per semester at Tuslaw High School (or 10 courses over the course of the year) in order to earn an academic letter.
SCHEDULE CHANGES / CLASS DROP POLICY
Students can drop/add a class until the first day of the school year without penalty. After the first day of the quarter, students dropping a class will receive an F. For second semester courses, students can drop/add a course prior to the first day of the semester.
CCP students must follow the college drop/add policy.
A Word Of Caution
The quality of the academic program - the content and the difficulty of the student's courses throughout secondary school - will continue to be the first thing admission officers look at when they read a folder.
