“Prevention is better than cure”. As an intervention to flatten the curve, stop the contagion and contribute to government’s effort to heal as one, DOLE, TESDA thru ASSAT and the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur joined efforts in combating Covid 19 by producing the much needed personal protective suits for the frontliners of the DO Plaza Memorial Hospital (DOPMH).

Among the agencies which participated in the converegence effort to beat covid19 are: Congressional Districts 1 and 2 with Congressmen Alfelito Bascug and Adolph Edward G. Plaza provided the funds for TUPAD Program of the DOLE; DOLE Agusan del Sur Personnel; Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur led by Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr. provided the needed materials; the DOPMH; PESO Agusan del Sur Manager Divina P. Lagumbay acted as coordinator of the project; the ASSAT Alumni Association and ASSAT management provided food of the sewers; other agencies and individuals who in other ways have also contributed and supported this project. After ten days, ASSAT with 12 graduates of Dressmaking NC II under the supervision of the dressmaking trainer and assistance of some its staff, has produced 182 laboratory suits and was turned over to the Provincial Government thru Forester Ronulfo R. Paler, Acting Provincial

Administrator on April 16, 2020.

The shortage of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)/laboratory suits for the frontliners and the difficulty of freight and handling from suppliers, urged the various agencies of the province to converge and take strategic actions to produce equally-durable PPEs by utilizing the available manpower and resources of the province.

With the participating agencies and organizations providing the needed logistics and resources,

ASSAT, being the only TESDA Technical Institution in the province offering Dressmaking NC II, accepted the task/ responsibility of producing the much-needed suits. (photo credits to the owners)
