ASSAT joins TESDA C-Games 2019, dominates sports tilt

Indeed, employees and trainees alike from the TESDA Caraga’s Technical Training Institutions (TTIs) and Provincial Offices (POs) as well as Training Centers flock together at the Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology (SNCAT) in Magpayang, Mainit, Surigao del Norte last October 23 and 24 to cheer for their respective teams in the recently concluded C-Games.

Delegates from the Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, Provincial Training Center of Agusan del Norte, Dinagat Island Provincial Office and Provincial Training Office of Surigao del Norte comprised the first cluster; Agusan del Norte Provincial Office joined forces with the delegates from the Northern Mindanao School of Fisheries to form the second cluster; Agusan del Sur Provincial Office headed by PD Lorenzo Emanuel Guillermo mustered strengths with the Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades (ASSAT) delegates as they formed the third cluster; while Surigao del Norte Provincial Office merged with this year’s host institution, SNCAT, as they made up the fourth cluster.

The event kicked-off with a motorcade which was shortly followed by ceremonial activities relating to the declaration of the opening of the said event. This includes the lighting of the flame of sportsmanship and banner-raising contest which was followed by the cheerdance competition where the third cluster’s entry is ranked third place.As the first day ends, the delegates were then treated to a night filled with charm, exhilarating dance routines and vocal prowess as the search for the Mr. and Ms. TVET-Caraga 2019, Pop Dance and the Musical competitions commenced. Cherlen L. Bentulan, a third-year student of Welding Technology of ASSAT was crowned as Ms. TVET-Caraga 2019 first runner-up while a sophomore student of the same school Rhaiel A. Sasil bagged the Mr. Congeniality Award and finishes as Mr. TVET-Caraga 2019- third-runner up.

Meanwhile, Cluster three’s pop dance entry bagged the third prize while Mr. Gabriel B. Campos, Jr. and Ms. Ledilyn J. Unlad were adjudged third in their Love Duet performance. The former was also awarded the third prize in song solo competition for the male category while the latter came in second in the female category, respectively.

In conclusion, ASSAT led the 12 sporting events by winning seven gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals. The said cluster brought home bronze medals in basketball and men’s dart while they gave their opponents a hard fight and secured their silver medals in men and mixed badminton as well as in women’s chess. However, Cluster 3 proved to be unbeatable as they conquered their gold medals in men and women’s volleyball; women’s badminton; men and women’s table tennis; men’s chess and women’s dart respectively. ###amk
