General Information on Dante
Dante is an Italian writer from the renaissance. he is famous for his writing about hell in his most well known book which is called "inferno" Dante's description about hell in this book are gruesome and descriptive.

Dante's Inferno was part of his amazing poem which was called "The Divine Comedy". In Dante's Inferno Dante described the Christian afterlife, purgatory, heaven, and hell.
Dante's Life
Dante was born June 1'st 1321 into the Alighieri family. He was born in Florence Italy which is a city in Italy. Something cool about Florence is that it was the birth place of the Renaissance and also the capital of Italy's Tuscany region. His mother Died a couple years after his birth. Dante's childhood wasn't exactly perfect. When Dante was around 12 years old it was arranged that he would marry a Gemma Donati, who was the daughter of a family friend. He then fell in love with another woman named Beatrice Portanari. Beatrice then died shortly after he wrote a poem called "Vita Nuova". After this Dante would go on to write "The Divine Comedy" and continue to be one of the most influential poets of all time.
