Italian Renaissance

The Italian Renaissance originated from Florence. At this time, humanism, or the study of value and human beings, was deeply encouraged.

Many people became interested in subjects like art, religion, traveling, and education. People like Martin Luther, Shakespeare, and Michelangelo inspired new humanist ideas. People like Marco Polo spread the Renaissance ideas to different areas of Europe and Asia. New inventions like the parachute were invented, and important paintings, such as the Mona Lisa, and the painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, and The Last Supper were painted. The Renaissance was full of painters, writers, and inventors such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Dante, and Machiavelli.
