HOW DOES THE MILE RUN WORK IN PE?
Students will run the mile once every 3-6 weeks depending on grade level and teacher. When students run the mile, they need to stay within their personal best mile time based on the following rubric. If a student has been actively participating in daily activities they should see a gradual improvement in their mile time from month to month.
I WANT TO RUN A SPECIFIC MILE TIME. HOW FAST DO I NEED TO RUN EACH LAP TO ACCOMPLISH MY GOAL?
If your goal is to run a specific mile time, we have created a chart to help you monitor your pace during each lap.
How will my child be graded on the mile?
Grading on the mile will differ from grade level to grade level.
Students who stay within their personal best mile time based on the above rubric will receive full credit on the activity.
Students who do not stay within their personal best mile time will receive a POINT DEDUCTION, based on how far off they are from their best mile time.
PLEASE NOTE: We understand that in certain circumstances pulling students out of class for appointments is necessary. We do ask however, that every attempt be made to schedule appointments on days that your student is NOT scheduled to run.
