Current office visits include:
- Sore throat- most being viral, or post-nasal drip related. Sore throat that is not improving after 72 hrs should be evaluated to rule out strep throat. Strep throat requires an antibiotic. If you have been diagnosed with strep throat, be sure to take the antibiotic for the entire prescription, and don't forget to change your toothbrush and wash the toothbrush holder.
- Nasal congestion
- Headache
- Coughs have also increased this week- Monitor for secondary infection. Delayed fever (onset several days into the illness) is a red flag for either a secondary bacterial infection (antibiotics likely required), or it could just be a new virus on top of a previous (monitor)
Please remember to keep your child home until he/she is free of fever for 24 hours (unmedicated). They are considered contagious until that time has passed.
