Gastroenteritis- AKA in layman's terms... the "Stomach Flu." Most students are pretty healthy in general, but if they are ill, complaints are of generalized stomach pain/cramping, vomiting for 1-2 days, with feeling tired, and/or mild dizziness. Sometimes this is followed by loose stools for a couple days, but most students stop at vomiting. This is viral in nature, which means it needs to resolve on it's own. Offer small amounts (sips) of clear liquids frequently to avoid dehydration. Urine output should be at least once every 8 hrs. If not, call your Dr. to rule out dehydration concerns. Good hand washing is the best method for prevention!
