Multiplying Decimals by Whole Numbers

1. When multiplying decimals it is best to at this point forget there is a decimal.
2. Line the numbers up by the last digit (to the right)
3. Multiply numbers as if there isn't a decimal
4. Do single digit, double, digit or triple digit multiplication making sure to add the zero when multiplying by the tens place and two zeros when multiplying by the hundreds place.
5. When the multiplying is done, add if necessary.
6. Now place the decimal.
7. Count the number of digits to the right of the decimal in the problem.
8. That is how many digits must be to the right of the decimal in the product (answer)
