FOR EACH BIOGRAPHY PROJECT WORTH UP TO 10 POINTS* (repeated up to twice per semester),
YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING:
Choose a person to research.
Famous singer, athlete, politician, celebrity, hero...whoever you wish.
Then...
1) Read at least THREE information sources about this person. YOU CAN READ WIKIPEDIA TO GET STARTED BUT YOU CANNOT COUNT IT AS ONE OF YOUR THREE SOURCES. You can use websites, books, magazines, etc. KEEP TRACK OF THESE SOURCES...YOU HAVE TO TURN THEM IN!!
2) Write a biography of your chosen person IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Any copying & pasting will result in a ZERO. That is plagiarism, it is illegal, and it will not be accepted. Should be five paragraphs, including an intro paragraph and a conclusion paragraph (the three body paragraphs with information about your chosen person, perhaps "youth, adulthood, accomplishments" or something similar for the three paragraphs.)
3) Proofread your writing for originality, spelling, and punctuation. Ask others for help in proofreading--we all see different things! DOUBLE-SPACE your Google Doc. Use size 12 font, Arial. (Yes, this must be typed.)
4) At the end of your report, list your three or more sources.
If it's a website, copy & paste the URL (the http;//www thing).
If it's a book, list the title and author.
If it's a magazine, list the title of the article, the title of the magazine, and the date it was published.
5) Draw an ORIGINAL artwork (not printed off from a website) of the person you've chosen. This will allow you up to 2 ART points.
8) Share with kolson@onamia.k12.mn.us, or print off and put with the cover in the English file to be graded. If you share your biography digitally, you can still turn in the "cover" on its own on paper--don't forget your name!
* YOU WILL EARN ALL 10 POINTS IF YOU FOLLOW ALL THESE DIRECTIONS FULLY AND COMPLETELY. You will earn fewer points for spelling errors, for doing less than your best, etc. You will earn ZERO points for plagiarism.
