Full year
This is a first year physics course for students who excel in Honors Chemistry, and it will follow the AP syllabus from the College Board. The topics that will be examined throughout the year include: mechanics, electrostatics, mechanical waves and sound. Although this class does not require calculus, it is comparable to the required physics course taken in college by premed students and other nonengineering majors. Candidates must have completed Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry. In order to provide appropriate lab experiences, this course includes at least one double lab each cycle.
Prerequisite: Exemplary performance in Honors Chemistry (93 or higher) and Honors Algebra 2 (or Math Department chair approval). Acceptance is dependent upon criteria available from the Science Department chair. Completion of summer assignment available on teacher’s website.
