Full year
The topics examined during the first semester include: mass and mole relationships in chemical reactions, atomic theory and periodic relationships of atoms, molecular geometry, nature of the chemical bond and the nature of the solid, liquid, and gaseous state. During the second semester, the nature of solutions, rates of chemical reactions, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases and electrochemistry are examined. In order to provide appropriate lab experiences, this course includes at least one double lab each cycle.
Prerequisite: Exemplary performance in Honors Chemistry and department approval. Honors Physics (completed or taken concurrently).
Acceptance is dependent upon criteria available from department chair.
