2016 Clean Tech Competition and first ever STEM Cruise!

Post date: Feb 24, 2016 4:43:47 AM

Hey everyone,

There are a lot of science competitions out there for high school students; many of them are research/ engineering challenges for teams of 10-15 members who want to design and create solutions for real world problems. These competitions are pretty exciting and prestigious. One of them, The Clean Tech Competition, is described below. If you're interested in being part of a team of Montgomery students to participate in this event, please email montystem@gmail.com by Thursday evening at 7:00pm and let us know. We will help the team find a mentor and other resources.

Just to quickly summarize, here is a blurb from the website that describes what you'd actually do during this competition:

    1. Identify a specific problem associated with plastics or the need for clean, cheap energy anywhere in the world. Explain the specific impacts on environmental conditions, human health and/or economic.

    2. Research and describe the scale of the problem and the affected populations.

    3. Analyze the foundations and causes of the specific issue you chose. Investigate, understand in detail, and explain.

    4. Design a solution that uses clean energy to address your identified problem, and explain how it would help mitigate the negative impacts of plastics or the insatiable need for electricity.

Below is more detailed information.
