Templates: How to Create One for Bibliographic or Patron Records

While making a patron template you might need to know the field definitions for it. Here is a guide for this

How to delete templates and change the default

  • Enter M5 setup.

    • Login to M5. In the lower right corner click on the "enter setup" button. A new tab or window will open asking for credentials. These might be different from the ones used for your library catalog. Contact us if you don't have these.

    • Once on the setup page, select “record templates”, which will be located on the left.

    • In “record templates”, you will see a list of all your templates. If you want to remove a template, just click on the “delete” button to the right of the template.

    • If you want a certain template to come up as the default, click the circle to the left of the template you want the default for. That template will now come up as the default when adding a record.

  • Technical notes:

    • If you need to modify or create a holding template, in a nutshell, after searching any bibliographic record and clicking on the title, you will see the option to "add holding". From there, you can use the same procedure for modifying the template or contact Mandarin TS for assistance.

    • If the "save as template" option is not available on the "basic editor" that means that under "M5 setup"-"record templates" there is no default set for templates. Please change from "none" to any other. This action will make the "save as template" option displayed be on the "basic editor".
