• Understand and contextualize volcanic processes on the Eastern Snake River Plain

Research Interests

Physical volcanology, igneous petrology, science communication, geohazards, remote sensing, planetary geology 

Tasks for 9/18: 

• Do/schedule defensive driver course for INL vehicle (after badge receipt)

• Register for Pre-thesis with SKN (3 cr) by end of 9/4

• Forward SKN email from Grad School about Oct 26 Late Night

• Make own GIS using lava boundaries and vents/events data (see if there is anything useful in geochem data)

  • Stare at it really intensely

  • Pitch suggestion for field area scope and driving questions or hypotheses

• Read/summarize:

  • McCurry et al. (1999)

  • Holmes et al. (2008)

Tasks for 9/4:

• Email SKN about timing for next meeting (next week is DVF, following is Labor Day)

• On pause: 

  • Need to do defensive driver course for INL vehicle (after badge receipt)

• Take online badging training

• Re-ping HD about scheduling visit (Wednesday, if you haven't heard)

• Follow up with BT about laptop. We don't have the right software on campus. A student license is $495 (https://www.rockware.com/product/logplot/). Alternatively, can you use VPN to a remote desktop with access? (They would need to check with their IT)

• Email Di Wu about registration override for 5528

• Chat with DS

• Talk to professors about possibility of zooming in during DVF absence

• Continue reading USGS pile, focus on skimming for broad context. Keep thinking about questions to bring to next USGS group meeting

• Finish the reading/summaries from last week, be prepared to lead misconceptions paper discussion - questions/comments

• Think more about your preferred thesis focus area
