Gateway Experience
What creates change and how do I fit into the process? Through experiential service-learning projects, students will explore and take action on critical issues impacting their communities and world. Students will select an issue within the local or broader community, gather and evaluate information, collaborate with team members to develop solutions and propose their ideas on their chosen topic. Students will develop skills in how to reflect & evaluate personal values and beliefs by creating personal mission statements. Students will begin learning how to identify what projects will have a large scale impact on their community. Students will build communication, leadership and business skills as they build solutions for their service project.
(Founding Documents - Progressive Era)
Course focus is U.S. History from the founding documents through the Progressive Era. There is a strong secondary emphasis on citizenship, government, economics and geography.
(Progressive Era - Present)
Course focus is U.S. History Progressive Era through the present. There is a strong secondary emphasis on citizenship, government, economics and geography.
Course focuses on regional geography of the world including interacting factors like contemporary world history, economics and government.
