Courses 6471, 6472, and 6473 are taken together as part of a student's full-year 7th grade physical education and health experience. Physical education is an every other day course.

Course # 6472 – Physical Education 7B (7) required

The physical education program gives students an opportunity to explore a variety of physical activities to enhance their well-being. This includes these four health components; cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Physical fitness is worked on throughout each unit along with basic sport skills, understanding of the rules and appreciation of team sports, cooperation, and teamwork.

Courses 6481 and 2435 are taken as part of a student's 8th grade physical education and health experience. Physical education is a semester course.

Course # 6481 - Physical Education 8A (8) required

The 8th grade physical education program gives students an opportunity to continue to improve their well-being while discovering the benefits of activity and daily exercise. Physical fitness is worked on throughout each unit along with team sport skill refinement, game play and strategy.

Course # 6484 - Healthy You and Beyond (8) required

  • Gateway Experience

In this course, students will explore the elements of physical, mental/emotional, and social health. Students will understand how their wellbeing is impacted by personal choices and environmental factors. Students will acquire knowledge and skills to make health-enhancing decisions. Throughout each unit, students will gain an understanding of opportunities for careers in health care and how professionals in this area can support communities, families, and individuals.

Physical Education 8th Grade Elective Options:

Course # 6486 - Fitness 4 Life (8)

Fitness 4 Life is designed for any student who wishes to improve their physical well being and learn about current fitness trends, techniques, and training programs that can benefit them throughout their lives! This class is all about individualized health/wellness and making fitness fun! Students will spend time in the classroom learning as well as in lab based practice. Students will go over the basics of an exercise program, related body systems, and understand the benefits exercise provides. Students will be empowered to make wise choices, meet challenges, develop positive behaviors in fitness, wellness, and movement activity, as well as building awareness for potential career pathways.


Course # 6485 - Introduction to First Aid, Safety, and Prevention (8)

What will you do to prevent an injury from happening and what will you do when an injury occurs? Knowledge is your best tool when dealing with any type of situation that may arise. Introduction to First Aid, Safety and Prevention is designed to give you that basic knowledge. Through a hands-on approach, students will learn about identifying potential dangers, the prevention of injuries, and the treatment of common injuries. This class will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge to respond in a safe and appropriate manner.
