Gateway Experience
In this introductory course, students will gain an awareness of the application of creative thinking beyond the classroom through authentic experiences. They will explore how ideas and messages can be communicated through using traditional and digital media. Students will gain foundational skills while connecting, creating, presenting and responding through various forms of digital artwork and media. Students will explore media arts practices to develop further understanding of potential career pathways.
This class is designed as an introduction to visual arts. Units of study will incorporate a wide variety of media and techniques. Students will learn skills that will help them in all of their future art courses as well as other areas of study. The class combines art production with an opportunity to understand how time, place and culture influences our experiences with art. Students will connect, create, present and respond though their own artwork as well as that of others.

Gateway Experience
In this follow up to the Media Arts I course, students will deepen their awareness of the application of creative thinking beyond the classroom through authentic experiences. They will have opportunities to delve more deeply into areas that were of special interest to them from Media Arts I. Through individual work, partner and group collaboration, students will further their skills while connecting, creating, presenting and responding through various forms of digital artwork and media. Students will explore specific media arts practices to develop further understanding and connection to potential career pathways that interest them.
This class will provide opportunities for students to freely explore avenues for creative self expression. Through a variety of mediums, and while using the design thinking process, students will build artistic skills and literacy. This class will teach students how to Integrate knowledge and personal experiences while responding to, creating, and presenting artistic work. Units of study will incorporate a wide variety of media and techniques.
