Nut Cookies (aka: diaper cookies)
1 pkg yeast
6 cups sifted flour
½ tsp salt
3 cups Crisco or shortening
1 tall can of evaporated milk
4 beaten eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Dissolve yeast in small amount of Pet Evaporated Canned milk.
Mix flour, salt and shortening well with pastry blender.
Add evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla and yeast mixture.
Let stand 3 hours with wax paper on top.
Filling:
4 cups chopped walnuts or pecans
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
¼ cup canned milk
Preheat oven to 350°
Divide dough and roll out on sugared board
Cut into 2 ½ squares
Place 1 tsp of nut filling in center and fold in the 4 corners.
Bake 20 minute.
