Scientists "bust" the myth that microbes outnumber us!

Most people know I have a particular fondness for those little critters that exist all around us (and in us) because I spent a good chunk of my educational career studying microbiology. I was also under the impression that our cells were outnumbered by the presence of bacteria and other microbes that could be found on our skin and in other areas of our bodies - especially the intestine. Sadly, or maybe not so sadly for the squeemish types, evidence has now come to refute this claim. Instead of outnumbering our cells 10:1 it now seems the ratio is more like 1:1 on average. While this might help some of you sleep better at night, remember who ALWAYS wins in the end... :)
