Media & Product Design

The Challenge:

You are the marketing director in charge of media and product design for your Rocket League team and players. Create a marketing campaign that can include a website, commercials (print & video), team logos, player logos, player cards, car logos and designs, uniforms, awards, achievement badges, hype video, merchandise and anything else you can create to help promote and increase your team and players popularity.

This is a 1 or 2 person project.

Anchor Standard 1.1.6 - 1.1.III: Generate and Conceptualize ideas and work

Anchor Standard 2.1.6 - 2.1.III: Organize and develop artistic ideas and work

Anchor Standard 3.1.6- 3.1.III: Revide, refine, and complete artistic work

Anchor Standard 4.1.6 - 4.1.III: Select, Analyze and interpret artistic work for presentation.

The Details:

  • Day 1-2: Play the game.

  • Days 2: Decide on a marketing plan and campaign. Choose what media and/or products you plan on designing over the next 10 days. Create a timeline for each design.

  • Days 3-10: Begin designing your website, logos, advertisements, merchandise, badges, etc.

  • Day 10: Complete your marketing plan. Begin exporting, importing, saving whatever you need in order to get it all on your presentation slides.

  • Day 11-12: Complete your slides. Focus on the goal each marketing campaign has. Prepare to present.

STEAM U Levels:

GREEN CIRCLE (1 PT.)

  • Completed the in game training session.

  • Did not follow timeline and spent most of the days just playing the game.

  • Marketing campaign not organized. Seems to be a bit all over the place.

  • Slides completed but done minimally both in visual and written communication;

BLUE SQUARE (2 PTS.)

  • Followed the detailed timeline above.

  • Created a marketing campaign that was well organized and had clearly communicated purpose for each aspect of the campaign as well as an overall theme.

  • How each aspect of the campaign was created is explained in the presentation slides.

BLACK DIAMOND (3PTS) IN ADDITION TO ALL IN THE GREEN CIRCLE & BLUE SQUARE...

  • Advanced technology skills were used in the creation of the media and/or products used in the marketing campaign.

  • At least 3 different media/technologies were used as a part of the main campaign (website, affinity photo, logos, tinkercad, merchandise, achievement badges, uniforms, player cards, etc.)

  • Common theme is used to establish a team or players public perception. An overall idea of what characteristics you want to establish is evident.
