Socrative (beginning - 10:45) - Student Response system, i.e. Clickers. Collect student responses using pre-generated quizzes or live in class questioning.
Student App - Already on the cart iPads
Teacher App - You need this if you want to run it from your iPad. You can also run it from their website.
You will need to register for a free account. You can do this from the App or from http://m.socrative.com/lecturer/#lecturerLogin
This could be a great way to spice up review sessions.
Apple TV (10:45 to end) - Can be used to wirelessly mirror the screen of your iPad to your TV
Need an HDMI port. The TV in your room has one. Some projectros have HDMI inputs as well. If your projector does not, then you'll need an HDMI to VGA converter box. Note there are some cheap cables that appear to do this, however these do not work.
You should set a password. You can do this in the Settings menu for Air Play.
When you enter the WEP password select HEX
Name your AppleTV for your room number
You should download the Remote App for your iPad (or iPhone) to control your AppleTV. This will allow you to control your AppleTV directly from your iPad.
I also showed a few Screen recording apps: ScreenChomp, ShowMe, Educreations, and Explain Everything. I've shown a couple of these earlier and will add the new ones to the page on "Capture what they Know"
Here's the link to a lecture I recorded using ScreenChomp and the AppleTV: Introduction to Force Pairs
Invited Speakers via FaceTime (starts at 18:00) - Have a speaker who might want to talk to have your class but they can't come to our school inperson?
Serge talked about his use of FactTime to bring a quest into our building to talk with his class and be a part of their discussion on Global Climate Change and the relationship between science and religion.
There were some technical difficulties, but he still thought it was valuable.
Serge volunteered to come to your room and help resolve any technical difficulties if you wanted to try this with your class. This way you could still focus on the conversation with your students even if the call is dropped and you speaker needs to be re-called.
You could also use Skype for this if your speaker does not have an Apple device. Skype will run on a computer or your iPad.
