Adobe Voice is a great app to use for Digital Storytelling because it is very easy to use. This means students can spend more time focusing on the idea or story they are trying to present and less time worrying about the technical issues.
In this session we will play with this app and create some stories.
While the following video did not prove particularly prophetic it is a great example of what is possible in Adobe Voice:
You can also see many more examples when you open Adobe Voice on your iPad.
Now that you've seen what Adobe Voice can do it is your turn to try it out. You will play the part of the students and work singly or in pairs on this assignment. As the teacher I will float around the room and lend assistance where needed.
Let's get started:
Download Adobe Voice if you have not done so already
Open the app
Login or create an account - YOU CAN NOT USE Facebook login while at school
Work through the tutorial
Once you've done the tutorial, choose one of the following tasks:
Create an example for a project you might assign to your students.
Create an advertisement for a class you teach that could be shown to students to inspire them to take your course next year.
Teach a concept or idea with pictures and audio. This should be something you could use with your students.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is something you do for fun that is outside of what people would expect from you?
Tell us a story about anything you want
The Process:
List the important points you need to cover, on paper. Don't use an iPad app for this.
Create a new project in Voice, give it a title, and select your "Story Structure"
On your paper, create an outline to match your story structure. Be sure to think about how to incorporate your important points
Create your story with Voice.
Use AirDrop to send it to send it to me
Things to know:
You can use your own pictures or there is a built in search. The images provided are all labeled Creative Commons Attribution, so you can use them without violating copyright. The attribution will be added at the end of your video automatically
If you don't like the default layout provided for a slide you can change it a little by tapping Layout at the top of the screen
Once you get your core content in try switching the theme to see how this impacts the feel of your story
The choice of music is also important. The background music you choose can change the whole feel of your story. Also be sure that the music isn't too loud. If choosing music from your own library you should avoid any music with vocals.

"Interested in making your Voice video more unique? There are a few simple tricks that can add more visual variety to your stories. We’ve heard your questions and feedback — and want to help you discover everything Voice can do — so we’ve created a series of short videos, outlining features in the app."
Jane attended a workshop on digital storytelling a couple years ago and has done digital storytelling projects with her students. They didn't use Adobe Voice, but she might be able to help you design a project to do with your own students.
