OnLine Art with Mrs. Buchner
3-24-20 make a portrait for a friend
March 24 Art Challenge
Your challenge today is to make a portrait of someone. Before cameras and phones the only way anyone could have a picture of himself or herself was to have an artist create it. Many very famous works of art are portraits. I'll post one below and you can show Mom and Dad how smart you are by naming it.
You can make your portrait in color or just use a pencil and shade it, like I did in the video. You can also look in a mirror to do a portrait of you, which is called a self- portrait. Portraits also make very nice gifts so you can give it to some one you love. Portraits are hard so here are links to other videos that can help:
- Step-By-Step Self Portraits for K-2 children
- Draw a Portrait and divide face into proportions
- Getting detailed: Draw a Realistic Eye (for older kids)
Challenge: Make a portrait of someone.
If you want to do challenges from other days, you can find them all here: Art Challenge Archives.
While you are at home you can still share your artwork with Mrs. Buchner! Here's a quick and easy way to do it:
- Ask Mom or Dad to take a picture with their phone.
- Text the picture to mbuchner@desoto.k12.wi.us. Yes, you can text to an e-mail. (Of course you can also e-mail it). I will be sharing art from kids in upcoming videos.
- You can also follow my Facebook page and share there. https://www.facebook.com/Art-with-Mrs-Buchner-101083254869456
