Comparing Units of Metric Linear Measurements

Materials: Base 10 block, rulers, meter ruler

1. Work with a partner. Measure the length in cm of ten Base 10 longs placed end to end.

2. Measure the length a second time in mm

3. Measure the length a third time using a meter ruler.

4. Repeat 5 times using different numbers of Base 10 longs

   1. Record all measurements in a table with the headings below:

5. Describe any patterns or relationships that you can find among the three metric units used.
