Squaring a number
1. Jeffery came home and told his mother that he learned how to square a number in math class today. He told his mom that 92 (9 squared or 9 to the second power) is 18. Is Jeffrey's mom going to agree or disagree with him? Explain your answer.
Group two will answer the question using the task card that shows gives a visual of the problem and directions. They will also have a partner to discuss their thinking before they begin writing.
