World History is a full year social studies credit and is offered to students 9th-12th grade. World history is a survey of the World's history from 10,000 BC to the present day. During their time exploring world history students will be introduced to many cultures, concepts, and ideas that have shaped the modern world. In World History, students will also engage in critical thinking and literacy skills that are important for good citizenship and beneficial to the workplace.

FIRST SEMESTER:

- The beginning of civilization and early achievements.

- The Classical Empires of Han China, Persia, and Rome.

- The Medieval World in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

- The Renaissance World and the Age of Discovery and Contact.

* Students will also develop literacy skills and interpret primary, and secondary sources.

* Students will also compose focused and purposeful responses to written responses to a prompt.

* Students will develop discussion and critical thinking skills.

SECOND SEMESTER:

- The Early Modern World and 18th century Revolution.

- The 19th century and the Industrial Revolution.

- The 20th century and the World Wars.

- The Modern World.

* Students will also develop literacy skills and interpret primary, and secondary sources.

* Students will also compose focused and purposeful responses to written responses to a prompt.

* Students will develop discussion and critical thinking skills.
