Law and the Individual is a semester elective in the Social Studies Department that explores the US legal system and the individual's role in it. Students in this course will understand their rights and liberties as citizens, as well as the power of the state to enforce the laws. Students will also analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the criminal justice system, the roles of the different professions within the criminal justice system, and current legal issues. The focus of the course is for students to reflect on their rights and responsibilities as a citizen, as well as provide insight into the legal professions.
