Introduction to Economics meets 1/2 of the full year of senior social studies. Economics is the study of individuals, businesses, and governments make decisions with scarce resources. Introduction to Economics will explore market forces, supply and demand, financial institutions and the business cycle. Students in Intro to Econ will engage in simulations that mirror economic decisions individuals, business, and institutions make everyday. An understanding of economics is essential to many college majors and good citizenship.

Introduction to American Government meets 1/2 of the senior requirement in social studies. Introduction to American Government is a survey of the political institutions that shape many of the decisions in our nation. Intro to Gov. will help students better understand the political process and better prepare students to engage in our political system as active citizens. An understanding of American political institutions and process are essential to good citizenship.
Why You Should Care About Government and Politics
* Students in this course will have to complete the Civi Education Project required on ALL seniors in District 211 social studies.
** Students in this course will have to pass the state mandated Constitution Exam in order to graduate.
