What Students Have Said About Psych:
“ This class has opened my eyes to observe other people to how and why they behave the way they do. It has made me understand people to whole new level. Plus it has made me understand myself a lot.”
“ I liked all of Psych because I hadn’t taken a class or anything like it before. I enjoyed learning new stuff and being able to apply it to my life.”
“ I liked the experiments we had. They explain the material a lot better. My favorite was when we had to work in teams and achieve one goal (aggression unit).
“High school Psychology had a pretty profound effect on me, so much so that I ended up getting a B.S. in Psychology. From high school Psychology it was a great introduction into to how people become who they are; not just learning how, but understanding. More importantly, it taught individuals about themselves. It is my own philosophy that people need to understand themselves well before they can understand others.”
“ I would recommend that all high school students take a psychology course if they have the opportunity. When I took h.s. Psychology it introduced me to a whole new world of science and ignited my love for learning. What I learned helped me understand myself and those around me, but also taught me that learning can be fun. HS psych also influenced what I chose to study in college. I don’t know if I would even be in college now if I didn’t take high school psychology, simply because I would not have the same passion for learning as I do now.”
“When I took this class in h.s. I learned a TON! I learned about how our brain operates, functionally and dysfunctionally, as well as how it controls the whole body. I was able to use all of this information to further my study in psychology in college. Mrs. Wedoff also prepared me for college by teaching me study habits and test taking strategies. I think psychology is the only class I took in high school that is relevant in my life today and that I reference to many times.”
“ Having the background in psychology helped me through my college career. Having the prior knowledge of psychology helped me better understand the material I was learning.”
“Had I not taken psychology during my senior year of high school, I would have missed out on so much: preparing myself for future classes, being introduced to a brand new subject that was out of my comfort zone, and finding multiple new understandings of myself and the people in my life. If I had had any other teacher, my experience would have still been positive, but still incomparable to the teachings of Mrs. Wedoff. As a future educator, I felt inspired by her kindness, enthusiasm, and knowledge presented every single day. I hope that I can have a similar impact on my future students like she has had on me. I will forever be grateful for taking this class.”
