What you will study in the course:
Understand society’s expectations for males and females. How has society’s definition of what is feminine has changed
over the years
Understand the role the media and social media play in affecting an individual’s body image, self-esteem, and self-confidence,
and the connection to eating disorders.
The unrealistic standards the beauty and fashion industry have put on young girls and how social media sites like Instagram and Twitter influence young girls’ self esteem.
Learn how women risked everything, including death, to get the right to vote.
Learn how women were excluded from college and playing competitive sports.
Understand sexual harassment and how “Me Too” has changed how we look at sexual harassment.
Teen Dating Violence, including the warning signs of abuse.
Learn about struggles women face in the workplace, including the topics of equal pay and maternity leave.
Sexual Assault: 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience sexually violence in their lifetime.
Learn about the rights of women throughout the world, including standards of beauty throughout the world, cultural practices, child brides, and violence against women.
